April/ May Newsletter

April/ May newsletter We kicked off the spring season with a cross country session at Milton keynes EC on grass. It was very popular with a full day of riders for Petros, everyone having lots of fun for huntertrial or eventing preparations. We also sent a team to Wittering for the Area 7 combined training competition where our Team of 4 seniors were 12th and special mention to our junior individual rider Charlotte Kitchener who was 2nd on Alfie who also has recently returned to competing after Ulcer rehab. Over the Easter Holidays we held a junior session for younger members and children of members, where lots of gymkhana fun and chocolate were enjoyed. For the grown ups we held the popular 'poles and prosecco ' clinic, where groups enjoyed a polework layout workout and then a glass of bubbles! Our much anticipated Forest holiday riders had an amazing time and weather staying at Little lodge farm in Thetford. 8 riders and horses enjoyed miles of off road riding and water crossings and Julie's delicious home cooking. Date is already in for next year! The Bank holiday weekend saw us out on the cross country again at Bramfield this time aimed more towards our grassroots riders to build confidence over solid fences. Riders really enjoyed confidence building Sessions with Dawn Fitzhugh. Upcoming in May are some Team competitions at both Rockingham international horse trials and the 2 day event at Princethorpe College. 80cm team spaces are unfortunately now available if anyone fancies taking part in the long format event, stabling over and enjoying a team meal. Starting May 26th will be Shillington r.c Summer Evening dressage series. This will run once a month through the summer with a points league. Open to all Not to mention jump clinics and another pole and prosecco in the diary too.
